U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx has moved her office across town to the old Clemmons School complex. Opening in early January, the office includes six full-time employees who deal with constituent service issues from passports to Social Security to veteran’s benefits. The new office is at 3540 Clemmons Rd., Suite 125. The phone number is 336-778-0211. There are two Congressional offices in the 5th District, Clemmons and Boone.
“We like being in Clemmons,” she said Tuesday. “We appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of the 5th District, and we want the office to be as convenient and accessible as it can be.”
She said the staff chose the location, which happens to be owned by one of her opponents when she first ran for Congress, Ed Broyhill.
She invited residents to visit the office, but she said she often meets people at other locations. “I’ll meet them at Bojangles,” she said. “Peopple don’t have to come to the office.” Returning home from her installation Monday for another term, Foxx said she continues to support Speaker of the House John Boehner.
“I think Boehner has been a good leader despite the criticism. Is he perfect? No, but neither am I. Republicans are the majority in only one-half of one-third of the government. He has to go up against Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.”
Foxx’s previous office in the Meadowbrook Mall closed in December when its lease expired. Some of the services provided by Foxx and her staff include: mediating cases with the Social Security Administration, assisting with veterans benefits, facilitating tours of the United States Capitol and other Washington, D.C. landmarks, submitting nominations for Military Service Academies, and supplying American Flags flown over the United States Capitol.
