Every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon there is a wonderful little farmers market at the Jerry Long Family YMCA in Clemmons it is made up of a team of friendly and knowledgeable farmers with a wide range of produce for purchase. Lets meet some of them – Charles Trivette has been a farmer pretty much his whole life he has grown tobacco, cotton, grain, beef and produce. He lives in Harmony, married with two grown kids and four grandchildren, who also assist on the farm. Recently he has focused on his chickens, and growing quality produce. He grows pumpkins, tomatoes, greens and also sells NC apples, dried apples and jams. Be sure to visit Charles and he gladly welcomes it when you bring a used egg carton to get refilled. He takes pride in his produce and the freshness of it.

You will find Donald Kieffer of Yadkinville next to Charles a specialist in muscadine grapes, grape juice, jams and relishes also some lovely home baked goods from his wife Sammy. Donald originally from Florida has worked in the aerospace electronic industry. After retiring Donald and his wife decided to grow muscadines for a hobby and small business. Muscadines are a native grape to North Carolina they are tasty and nutritious with antioxidants in the skin they make good jams and pies and can be frozen.

Doug Prevette of Harmony is also a regular at the Market selling a great selection of produce, and plants, he formally taught agriculture and is a wealth of knowledge on the topic.

Peter Davenport is a professional sharpener of knifes, scissors, grooming equipment and more. He is a wood carver by trade but always found sharpening rewarding and has now been doing it for 15 years. He’s the go to person for the market, also a local artist sculpting in wood and metal from old saws and tools.
