Bruce Kardon 

July 17, 1943 – June 5, 2014 

Bruce Kardon passed away on June 5, 2014 at age 70 due to a sudden stroke. He was born in Chicago, Illinois July 17, 1943 to the late Joseph and Ila Kardon. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Anne Kardon of 29 years, his daughter, Pamela Yvonne Shaffner, his son, Brett Alan Kardon, and his three grand children, Josh Patrick, Jessica Snell and Lee Anne Kardon. He was educated at Southern Illinois University receiving a BA in Math and Accounting. Later on he earned a Master of Science at the University of Wyoming in Statistics. Additionally, he earned Ph. D’s in Business Administration and Computer Science. Bruce was a member of many professional business organizations and worked as a contractor for several banks and corporations. In the past five years of his life, he was an expert witness for Medicare audits. Bruce was very talented in areas of entertaining which included dance, music and playing the guitar. He had a special group of people in a band called the Kardonals and he loved “jamming” with them. Additionally, he was a flight instructor in his younger years. He owned his own airplane and enjoyed flying. He attended Unity Church of Winston-Salem where he found a wonderful and loving fellowship among its members and deeply appreciated the universal message of the church. As a Jewish man, he was moved by Unity’s diversity and acceptance that all people are one under God. The family extends a special thanks to Pastor Elizabeth Forrest for her prayers and visits. We also extend a special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Barry Geller for giving Bruce his Hebrew prayers, songs, and rituals during their visits. We thank everyone who visited Bruce in the hospital and those who called to ask about him. A memorial service will be held at Unity Church of Winston-Salem on Friday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Unity Church of Winston-Salem.
