Gladys Irene Blalock Crane, 84, of Winston-Salem passed away on June 9, 2014. She was born in Mentone, AL to Raymond and Lillian Petty Blalock. Mrs. Crane was a longtime member of Burkhead United Methodist Church. She provided food for the BBQ fundraisers and covered dishes at the church; and was best known for her chocolate cake. She was an active participant and enjoyed her time with both the Fellowship Forum Sunday School Class and the Now and Then Club. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama and was an avid “Roll Tide” football fan. Mrs. Crane enjoyed traveling to see her granddaughters and the memories made during shopping trips. Mrs. Crane was a retired mathematics teacher from West Forsyth High School and Mt. Tabor High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Crane; oldest brother, Martin Blalock; sister, Ann Wright, and brother, Willis Blalock. She is survived by her children, William Crane (Genia) of Marietta, GA and Taylor Crane of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Ovie Blalock (Barbara) of Mentone, AL; sister-in-law, Josephine Blalock of Mentone, AL: granddaughters, Allison and Shannon Crane of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Burkhead United Methodist Church.
