Gladys Holder Harper
Mrs. Gladys Holder Harper, 94, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Harper was born on March 29, 1920 in Forsyth County to Rufus Edwin Holder and Roxie Warner Holder. She was a lifetime member of Warners Chapel Church of Christ in Clemmons, NC. Gladys worked for 40 years and retired from Bennett-Lewallen Division of Hava-Tampa Cigar Corporation. She was known for being a wonderful cook and everyone especially enjoyed her pies. Gladys and her husband’s great love was their mountain home in Fancy Gap, VA, and they openly shared it with their family members. Preceding Mrs. Harper in death along with her parents were her husband, James A. Harper; sister, Dorothy Holder Caldwell; and a brother, Frank Holder. Mrs. Harper is survived by two nieces, Leslie Warner (Roger) of Clemmons, NC, and Beverly Caldwell Teal (Jim) of Clemmons, NC; three “grandchildren,” Mark Warner and Melanie Warner Peden, both of Murfreesboro, TN, and Brent Skiver of Alexandria, VA; brother, Fred Holder (Mary) of Lewisville, NC; two brothers-in-law, Neal Harper (Lou Ann) of Clemmons, NC, and Carl Harper (Sue) of Franklin, TN; three sisters-in-law, Bettye Harper of Franklin, TN, Juanita Carter of Mt. Airy, NC, and Dora Conner (Clyde) of Garner, NC; and numerous other loving relatives. Pallbearers for Mrs. Harper will be Mark Warner, Brent Skiver, David Harper, Tim Harper, Adam Warner and Chad Southern. Funeral services for Mrs. Harper will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2014, at Warners Chapel Church of Christ in Clemmons, NC, with Mr. Dennis Conner and Mr. Todd Hinson officiating and Steve Tesh directing the singing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
