Mrs. Paige Jones Owen, 77, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Owen was born January 1, 1937 in Winston-Salem to Ralph Asbury and Mary Snyder Jones. She graduated from Lewisville High School where she was chief majorette and president of her student body. She was also a graduate of Draughn Business College. In 1955, she married John David Bazemore and moved to Norfolk, VA. They had one son, John David Bazemore, Jr. Returning to Winston-Salem, Mrs. Owen was employed by L.A. Reynolds Construction Company until 1966. In 1967, Mrs. Owen married Allen Kent Owen of Winston-Salem and was a homemaker for several years before becoming a licensed Realtor. She worked in the real estate industry for over 30 years with Ferrell Realty, Carl Johnson Realty and Vision Properties. Mrs. Owen was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She cherished every moment spent with her family. She loved to travel and was a lover of music, books, and good conversation. She is survived by her son, John David Bazemore, Jr and grandson Sean Asbury Bazemore of Winston-Salem; a brother, Richard Norwood Jones and a sister Suzanne Jones Gideons Bullotta of Winston-Salem; niece, Katherine Jones Hutchins and husband, Donald, of Kernersville, NC; a nephew, Colonel Christopher D. Gideons, USMC, and wife, Valli, of San Clemente, CA; and three great nieces, Nicole Hutchins, Ariana Hutchins, and Harper Gideons; and four great nephews, Zachary Hutchins, Seth Hutchins, Isaac Hutchins, and Battle Gideons, all of whom she adored. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 3:00p.m. at Home Moravian Church, Winston-Salem. Prior to the service the family will receive visitors at the church in the Saal Room beginning at 2:00p.m. Immediately following the memorial service a reception will be held in the Home Church Parlor. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes and Crematory of Winston- Salem will be handling arrangements. The family acknowledges with grateful appreciation the exceptional care and compassion provided by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Moravian Church or the donor’s choice.
