Mrs. Ruth Ellen DeHart Bailey, 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Bailey was born on November 23, 1934 in Forsyth County, NC. She was the daughter of Helen and Norman DeHart and was married to the late, James A Bailey Sr. from 1953-1989. She graduated from Mineral Springs High School and began working for Wachovia Bank and Trust as soon as she graduated. She worked at Wachovia, with the same group of Wachovia friends for over 41 years, retiring in 1994. For a number of years Ruth lived in the Salemtowne Retirement Community, but for the last 3 years she lived in Clemmons to be close to her son and his family. She instantly became friends with the “Ladies of the Court” and truly enjoyed the new friendships that she made. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Jack DeHart. Ruth is survived by three children, daughter, Luann of Mooresville, NC, Janet (Brian) Reynolds of Acworth, Georgia and James A (Christine) Bailey of Lewisville, NC; five wonderful grandchildren, Amy (Kristopher) Kiger of Mor˘n Air Base, Spain, Jennifer Reynolds of Sandy Springs, GA. Joseph Wright and Justin and Lainey Bailey of Lewisville, NC; Ruth was blessed by the special love of her two great grandchildren, Kayleigh and Garret Kiger of Mor˘n Air Base, Spain;two brothers, Norman DeHart of Winston-Salem and James (Martha) DeHart of Lewisville and sister-in-law, Merinda DeHart of Kill Devil Hills, NC. Ruth was a kind and generous person always thinking of others before herself. Her last note said, “Life was good and I chose my own road. I love you and will miss you always. “ A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Scott Venable officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Ruth asked that this truly be a celebration of her life and for her new life. Ruth has long supported the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW NC, 3655 Reed St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107 and hopes you will give remembrances in her honor to them or another organization that assists the hungry, homeless or sick.
