Moheb “Moe” Morcos Gendy

Moheb “Moe” Morcos Gendy, 70, departed on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in Winston- Salem with his wife and son by his side. He was born in Egypt, January 28, 1944 to the late Morcos and Karima Gendy of Cairo, Egypt. He was a graduate of Cairo University Engineering School in 1967. He immigrated to the USA in February 1970 and became a “Proud US Citizen” in 1975. His first job in the USA was a project engineer at Better Built in New Jersey until he moved to North Carolina in 1973 and worked for the last 40 years for Champion Industries in Winston-Salem. Mr. Gendy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Soheir Gendy; son, Peter Gendy (Sarah); and granddaughter, “the apple of his eye,” Claire Gendy.; his brothers, Mamdouh Gendy and wife Mona of Rural Hall, Michael Gendy and wife Marie of King and Maher Gendy and wife Pamela of King; and sisters, Elham “Ellie” Mankaryos of Winston-Salem and Ebtessam “Sam” and husband Atef Takla of Durham. Moheb is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces and cousins in the USA, Canada, Australia and Egypt. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Laura Gendy; and grandbaby, Jana Gendy. Funeral mass was conducted Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons with Father Michael Buttner officiating. Burial followed in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem and the staff of Forsyth Medical Center for all the care and support they provided to Moheb and the family.
