Adult programs:

Dementia: Accepting the Challenge: Join in at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, for a community training session on dementia. The fourth part of the series will be featured, as well as a repeat of the second session. Presented by the NC Geriatric & Adult Mental Health Specialty Team.

Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. March 4 at with a discussion of “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simsion.

Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking, and discuss the recipes. Agape Faith Church to host Grace•Full Women’s Conference

On the weekend of March 22-23, Agape Faith Church will host Grace•Full Women’s Conference featuring Pastor Susan Whitfield, Dr. Marilyn Hickey and Real Talk Kim. This year’s theme is Primed, Poised & Positioned. Women are a gift to the body of Christ and it is time that women become aware of what that gifting is. Now is the time to become primed, poised and positioned. The 2019 Grace•Full Women’s Conference is designed for women of all ages and backgrounds. Annual Shamrock Run

The 31st Annual Shamrock Run will be held this year on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 16, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in historic Downtown Mocksville.

Online registration is available at www.RunSignup.com and closes at noon on March 14. Runners can also register by mail by downloading the form from www.ShamrockRunNC.com and mailing it with a check by March 8 to: Shamrock Run Race Director, St. Francis of Assisi Church, 862 Yadkinville Road, Mocksville, N.C., 27028. Runners and Fun Walkers can also register at the church on the day before or the day of the races

The fee for registering for the 5K race or the 10K race before March 10 is $25; students under 18 pay $20. The fee for running both races is $35 with students under 18 paying $25. There is an extra fee of $10 if you register after that date. The fee for the untimed Fun Walk is $15.

Runners and Fun Walkers who register before March 1 will be guaranteed getting an official race T-shirt on race day. Race packets will be available at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 16. The 5K run will start at 8:15 a.m. and the 10K race begins at 9 a.m.

Award ceremonies and festivities will follow after the conclusion of each race.

Master Gardener plant sale

The Forsyth County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will hold their annual plant sale at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May, 4. Enjoy the beauty of the gardens while making your way to one of Forsyth County’s premier plant sales. Selections include unique annuals and herbaceous perennials, as well as flowering shrubs and trees, such as native plants, milkweed, herbs, vegetables, and more.

This event is one of the major fundraisers for the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Proceeds from your purchase help maintain The Arboretum and Gardens at Tanglewood Park and fund the monthly Adult Education lecture series held at the Arboretum office throughout the year.

Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

GriefShare program at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will have a series of GriefShare, a grief support group every Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center. Victory on the Frontline Church

Coffee, juice and pastries are served every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. Children’s and adult Sunday school starts at 10 a.m.

Worship service with Pastor Michael Duffield begins at 11 a.m. Gospel music performed by Lonnie & Faye Maines and the Victory Singers. Wednesday evenings is the “Just As I Am” casual and family service. Dinner is served at 6:20 p.m., followed by a Bible study led by Pastor Mike from 7-7:45 p.m. All people of Christian faith are encouraged to attend. Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

 

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Lewisville American Legion Post 522

Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Post also assists in veteran’s funerals. Meets every first Thursday at 7:30 p.m. At the G. Galloway Reynolds Community Center directly behind Lewisville Library. Clemmons Food Pantry

The Clemmons Food Pantry, now located at 2585 Old Glory Road, Suite 109, Clemmons, is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. People may receive services or drop off donations at these times. www.clemmonsfoodpantry.org

 

Cross Stitching at Shiloh Lutheran
