Trellis Supportive Care (formerly Hospice & Palliative CareCenter) is excited to announce the fourth annual Living Your Best Life Speaker Series scheduled for Sept. 25 in Winston-Salem. This year’s event brings three nationally known political icons and strategists, each with decades of notoriety and recognition as frequent guests on network and cable news shows; Ann Compton, Mary Matalin and James Carville.
Compton will share her insights and moderate a discussion between the powerhouse husband and wife duo, Matalin and Carville, who hold deep and divergent political views. The couple is best known for their highly passionate expression of opposing political views. While on opposite sides of the aisle, they have a long marriage where their political differences have not become personal differences.
With the prestigious panel of key players who have been on the frontline of the national political scene, topics to be explored include political polarization, ways back to civility, and consider how we can be part of the solution. This year’s Living Your Best Life Speaker’s Series will highlight our ability to create a richer and more meaningful life through constructive engagement, promoting both advocacy for causes Trellis believes in and volunteerism for organizations that serve people in need.
The team at Trellis Supportive Care started this community-changing and life-altering event in 2016. The event is designed to inspire the community to live their very best lives — now, and for the rest of their lives. “We named this event Living Your Best Life to help spotlight our mission of helping people live fully and comfortably, making the most of every day,” shared Linda Darden, president and CEO of Trellis Supportive Care. “I’m thrilled with the level of expertise we are bringing to the region and I suspect these powerhouse speakers will bring a whole new level of excitement and a glimpse into the 2020 presidential race,” she continued.
These nationally known speakers have impressive resumes. Compton joined ABC News in 1973 as the first woman assigned to cover the White House by a television network. From her front seat at the White House for ABC News, Compton covered seven presidents as well as innumerable life-changing and globe-altering events that made the daily headlines. She knows first-hand of the people and issues that are shaping the future of this country.
Matalin is one of the country’s foremost conservative political strategists and commentators, admired for her astute insights, intellectual integrity and her outspoken views on Congress and the future of the Republican Party. Matalin was deputy campaign manager for President George H. W. Bush, assistant to President George W. Bush, and counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney.
Carville is one of the most recognizable figures in politics. He is an insider, frequently seen on TV analyzing the Trump Administration, Congress, the 2020 presidential election as well as the global political landscape. He is well known for his bombastic, enthusiastic, shoot-from-the-hip, political commentary. His quick wit and Southern drawl earned him the nickname “Ragin’ Cajun.”
