Renegade Writers Guild announces the recent publication of an anthology of ghost stories for children called “Haints, Haunts, and Hallowed Hills.”
Publication of the book is the final product of eight creative writers who wrote eight short stories set in North Carolina, created a hand-drawn illustration for each story, and designed a stunning cover.
A book signing and celebration with free refreshments will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Artist Market at 143 N. Main Street in Mocksville.
All proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the Hart Square Village in Vale. The village is the nation’s largest collection of historic log structures. Each cabin is furnished with Appalachian antiques that represent life during the 19th century. With a print shop, schoolhouse, doctor’s office and more, Hart Village displays many artifacts that are not found elsewhere.
Through 100% donation of proceeds from the sale of their books, the Renegade Writers Guild demonstrates a shared commitment to support reading initiatives for children.
The reading initiative is part of the Guild’s book project, which focuses on opening new worlds for young readers while promoting a philosophy of giving back to the community.
Commenting on the guild’s anthologies, author and member, Marie Craig, shared, “Renegade Writers Guild has been special to me because of many reasons. I’ve met new friends with common interests, I’ve learned from the subjects we’ve studied, I’ve practiced my writing following schedules, and I’m proud of my part in creating three anthology books.”
The guild’s original book, “The Magic Horses of Crystal Creek Camp,” whisks away the imaginations of young readers to a place of fantasy and magic where they join other children who are away at summer camp. All proceeds from sales of the book benefited the Davie County Public Library.
“Tales of Tails,” the guild’s second book, is an anthology of short stories that highlight the tender affection between children and their pets. Sale proceeds were donated to the Humane Society of Davie County.
“The members of our guild have worked consistently to improve their skills. We are pleased and excited to share our love of writing combined with a desire to give back to the community with our newest book, “Haints, Haunts, and Hallowed Hills,” said guild member Julie Cartner.
Renegade Writers Guild is committed to bringing simple truths to life by creatively weaving them into powerful, colorful stories that grab hold of a child’s imagination, capture their hearts, and transport them to delightful places.
The books are available in paperback at select locations in Davie County. Paperback or Kindle is available at Amazon. For more information, go to https://renegadewritersguild.wordpress.com .
