Alexis Plemmons was recognized on Jan. 15 as the Rotary Club of Clemmons Student of the Month for January.

Plemmons has been an outstanding academic achiever during her high school career ranking 40th out of 574, with a 4.4 GPA, and a member of the following: National Honor Society, Crosby Scholar, Science Honor Society, and Math Honor Society. In addition to being a member of the groups, she volunteers to offer tutoring to students in need of additional help in their studies.

In addition to her academic accomplishments at West Forsyth she has been active and a leader in the following: West’s cheerleading team, member Titan Niehmas Club, Girls Service Club, Pre-Med Club, Hunter Safety Team, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Appointed by the principal for this duty, Plemmons performs the morning announcements for West Forsyth through the school-wide PA system every day, to ensure students and staff are aware of what is going on in the West community and are up to date on any important things going on. She also tries to use that opportunity to bring a smile to someone’s face and encouragement through her words, because you never know who might be listening and who might need to hear a positive voice.

Outside of school, Plemmons is active in the community, participating in: Breast Cancer Walk, Feeding My Starving Children project, making meals at the Ronald McDonald House, and participating in the Buddy Walk.

Plemmons also finds time to volunteer at her church as the leader of youth choir and for vacation Bible school.

She will be attending college this fall and plans to study nursing at UNC Chapel Hill or the University of Tennessee.

The Rotary Club of Clemmons congratulates Plemmons for her accomplishments and contributions to her school and community.
