Couriering the area this week in 1972 — Joseph C. Yarbrough, of Clemmons, resigned his post as county engineer to take a job with the consulting firm of Wilbur Smith & Associates who specialized in urban planning.

Wachovia Bank & Trust opened a branch in the South Fork area and Mrs. W. H. (Maude) Bledsoe, of Clemmons, was the branch manager.

The new officers for the Clemmons 4-H club were: Stanley Rash, president; Carol Myers, vice president; Penny Holder, secretary-treasurer; Tammie Byrd, pianist; Jean Myers, recreation leader and Julia Snyder, song leader.

Gardner Gidley, of Clemmons and president of Old Salem, presented a sculpture demonstration and lecture at Hanes Community Center.

Pat Cannon, a West Forsyth Senior High School student, was elected president of the Distributive Education Clubs of North Carolina’s 5^th District.

West Forsyth students, Debbie Whitman, Mary Jane Disher and Joy Huff, were among the junior volunteers honored by the Auxiliary of Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

Clemmons Cadette Girl Scout Troop No. 38 finished a course in first aid taught by Harold Church.

The Brookwood Club, Inc. was formed to develop the recreational property in the Meadowbrook community by its charter residents of Meadowbrook. Conley Smith was president. Other officers were: Bruce Stolba, vice president; Nat Swanson, vice president; David Rowe, treasurer; Taylor Fain, secretary and Jim Fordham, assistant secretary. Directors were: Brack Bailey, Glenn Culp, David Jordan, James Monroe, Frank Pfau, Matt Priddy and Ken Sheppard Jr.

Peggy Raisig, of Clemmons and president of the Forsyth County American Association of Medical Assistance, and Jo Barton, vice president, both attended the 8^th annual Convention of the North American Association of Medical Assistance in Wrightsville Beach.

The West Forsyth class officers for 1972-73 were: Dave Mitchell, Claudia Brickey, Wesley Trivette, Charlotte Frye, Debbie Baker and Ann Stewart.

Captain (Doctor) John B. Grant, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Grant Jr., of Clemmons, received the U.S. Air Force Commendation at Otis AFB.

Airman William H. Pack, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Pack of Clemmons, was assigned to Keesler AFB Mississippi after completing Air Force basic training.

Navy Seamon Keith Boyles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley G. Boyles of Clemmons, graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center in Orlando.

Cub Scout Pack 712 went to the Greensboro Friendship Airport to be on hand to greet President and Mrs. Nixon.
