Mary Beth Cox

Ms. Mary Beth Cox, 76, of Clemmons, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at her home. She was born in Forsyth County to the late Julius Perdue and Margie Blackburn Perdue on Dec. 29, 1944. Cox was a member of Advent Moravian Church where she was a band member, deacon, diener, president of Sunday school class and choir member. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1963. She retired from GMAC with 10 years of service and then State Farm with 13 years of service. Cox was a loving mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers James and David Perdue. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Reatha Schrick and Vicki Whitman (Sean); four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother, Julius Perdue; sisters, Bertha Griffin and Doris Billings. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Patricia Ruth Lackey Knoke

Patricia Ruth Lackey Knoke went home to Jesus on Jan. 3, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born in Minneapolis on June 25, 1927, one of eight children of Floyd and Ruth Lackey. She is preceded in death by her daughter Vickie Lynn Munkberg. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Knoke, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. She is also survived by her daughter Sherry Ann Harris, as well as five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Knoke enjoyed a variety of activities, anything that allowed her to spend time with her family. She was a devoted member of her church, singing in the choir and leading her girls in Awana. Her easy-going nature and kind heart drew people to her, and she will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the gazebo at Salisbury National Cemetery, 705 Hedrick Street, Salisbury, N.C.

Will Roger Vernon Sr.

Mr. Will Roger Vernon Sr., 83, of Mocksville, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin. He was born in Stokes County on April 14, 1937, to the late Dewey and Alice Hooker Vernon. Vernon was a Christian of the Baptist faith and attended Trinity Baptist Church in Mocksville.

In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by two sons, Will Roger Jr. and Jeffrey Warren; a grandson, Joshua Vernon; four brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Ann Vernon; three sons: Michael (Kristi), Brian (Cathy), and P-nut; 10 grandchildren; and his devoted companion and caregiver, Colleen Binkley, whom he loved very much.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Darrell Cox. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 243 N. Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
