The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education voted to appoint Alex B. Bohannon (Democrat) as a board member at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.

Bohannon will fill the seat vacated by Barbara Burke in November 2020. Bohannon will finish the remaining two years of Ms. Burke’s term. Burke was elected to the Winston-Salem City Council last year.

Bohannon is a graduate of Parkland High School and Elon University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He currently works as a diversity compliance specialist for the City of Winston-Salem.

Bohannon will be sworn in at the next board work session on Feb. 9.
