This final quarter so far has been busy for many students, students with very simple schedules see their to-do lists growing for endeavors both in and out of the classroom. It’s reasonable at this time that some students will miss some assignments. But the faculty and staff of West have shown serious understanding and patience by announcing a redemption weekend, where all fourth quarter assignments past deadline can be turned in for up to 70% of the full credit. Teachers can either give the work 70% credit or just completely exempt the assignment from the student’s final grade. Principal Kevin Spainhour encourages students on the line between one letter grade and another to take this time to increase their grades.

“We hope that this option will give students that are right there on the bubble, whether they are in between a C and a B and they’ve got a couple missing assignments out there, or maybe they’re right there on the bubble of passing. We hope that it will give them an opportunity, one final push to turn in some assignments that may be way past the deadline,” Spainhour said.

This one-in-a-school-year opportunity will officially begin this Friday at 4 p.m. and all redemption work must be turned in by 8 a.m. on Monday, May 18.
