Salem Band to perform outdoor concert on Aug. 10

Salem Band will perform an outdoor concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Salem Square. The theme is “Women” — celebrating women’s achievements in music and acting including Dreamgirls, Laura Nyro, Andrews Sisters, Meryl Streep, and Salem Band solo clarinetists Kania, Gwyn, and Joanna. Pre-concert music by the Clemmons Ladies Vocal Quartet. All concerts free in Salem Square, Old Salem. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Food vendors on site. Established in 1771, Salem Band is the oldest, continuous mixed wind ensemble in the nation. Eileen Young is music director.  Rain date is Aug. 13.
