The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution on Sept. 2 strongly encouraging everyone in Forsyth County to wear masks in indoor public settings and in crowded spaces outdoors, and to get a COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends everyone wear a mask in indoor public settings to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in areas where the infection rate is significant or high, because vaccinated individuals can transmit the virus to other people.
Vaccination is still the best way to prevent serious illness from COVID-19. The overwhelming majority of hospitalized cases are among unvaccinated individuals. There’s been a dramatic rise in COVID cases locally and nationally due to the highly contagious delta variant, which is posing a threat to our region’s hospital capacity.
The commissioners urge everyone to do their part to slow the spread of the virus, so schools and businesses can remain open.
