Western Forsyth Post 522 Blue advances to second round of Area 3 Tournament

Western Forsyth Post 522 Blue American Legion baseball team won their opening round series in the Area 3 playoffs against HiToms.
Post 522 beings its second round best-of-three series on Sunday against Kannapolis.
Team members are: Cameron Huie, Chris Cornett, Christian Cooper, Conner Smitherman, Corey Kellam, Eli Pauca, Ethan Chandler, Evan Hewett, Garrett Secrist, Graham Wagoner, Hayden Magaha, Jacson Snyder, J.D. Chappell, Jonathan Howard, Jordan Richardson, Logan Rodriguez, Lucas Alderman, Luis Acevedo, Parker Lowe, T.J. Fergus and William Siceloff.
The team is coached by Jon McIntosh and Pat Murphy.


Second round series against Kannapolis begins Sunday, July 10 at 6:30 at West Forsyth

Western Forsyth Post 522 Blue swept its opening best-of-three series against HiToms Junior Legion and advanced to the second round of the Area 3 Tournament in American Legion Baseball.

Post 522 Blue downed HiToms 13-3 on Wednesday at West Forsyth and then blasted them 14-4 on Thursday to win the series 2-0.

Post 522 Blue will take on Kannapolis in the second round. Kannapolis ousted South Rowan 2-0 in their series.
The first game of the best-of-three series will take place Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at West Forsyth.

In the win against the HiToms on Wednesday, Post 522 Blue scored eight runs in the sixth inning to close the game out. Graham Wagoner connected on his second home run of the game, a two-run shot that also scored Garrett Secrist, that gave Post 522 its 10-run advantage and ended the game.
Wagoner finished with three hits and three runs scored to go along with three RBIs in the win.
Hayden Magaha and Jonathan Howard also had two RBIs apiece.

Ethan Chandler went the distance on the mound, scattering five hits across six innings and allowing two earned runs while strikeout out six.

In Thursday’s series-clinching win, Wagoner again delivered three RBIs while Evan Hewett and William Siceloff, who was 3 of 4 at the plate and also scored three runs, drove in two runs apiece.

Hunter Magaha (2 for 3, three runs scored and RBI, J.D. Chappell (2 for 4, three runs scored, two RBIs were also offensive catalysts.

Post 522 Blue pounded out 15 hits to back Jordan Richardson’s start. Richardson allowed three hits and two runs in four innings before giving way to Siceloff and then Howard, who threw the final 1.1 innings and didn’t surrender a hit or run.
