Titans’ cross country teams perform well at Pioneer Clash of the Classes

Sophomore Lulu Serang wins 10th grade girls race
The West Forsyth cross country teams posted solid finishes last weekend in the Pioneer Clash of the Classes in Boone.
Races were two miles in distance and not the standard 3.1 miles and were spread out according to grade level.
Lulu Serang dominated the 10th grade girls race, winning in 12 minutes, 58 seconds — 25 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
In the senior boys division, Wesley Haggstrom finished third in 10 minutes, 19 seconds and was the top individual for the Titans. Brandt Doty was right on his heels with a fourth-place finish in 10:22. Connor Halderman was 10th in 11:11, Owen Newsome was 13th in 11:27 and Wyatt Stephens was 18th in 11:45. The Titans finished second in the team competition with 38 points, four points behind Daniel Boone High School.
In the senior girls race, Sophie Cowart (fourth in 13:05) and Tenley Douglass (seventh, 13:11) posted top-10 finishes, while Sophia Lin was 13th with a time of 14:00.
In the 11th grade girls race, Abby Reutinger was second with a time of 13:10 and Lillian Douglass was fifth in 13:14.
Colby Groce was the top finisher in the 11th grade boys race, coming in sixth place in 11 minutes, 22 seconds.
Jack Harrison was the top finisher in the 10th grade boys race, finishing 14th in 12 minutes, 13 seconds.
