A firearm was discovered in the possession of a student at Clemmons Middle School on Thursday according to a news release by principal Sandra Hunter.
Another student informed a staff member about the weapon. School administrators placed the school on lockdown just before the school was supposed to dismiss around 2 p.m.
Administrators and the school resource officer located the student and conducted a search.
The SRO discovered the firearm and confiscated it.
“Please know that no students or staff were threatened or harmed, and there was no altercation,” Hunter said.
