Light up the village!

The annual Clemmons Christmas Tree lighting ceremony took place on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Clemmons Village Hall with great attendance.
Event goers were regaled with a series of Christmas songs from the Morgan Elementary School choir, a rousing performance from the West Forsyth drumline, plenty of fun activities for folks of all ages, and of course, an appearance from the Jolly Old Elf, Santa Claus, himself.
Mayor Mike Rogers served as the emcee for the evening and introduced everyone to the stage, including Nina Beck and her two daughters, Charlie and Sailor, who were selected to light the tree this year. Nina is the owner of English’s Bridal and Formal Wear. Nina lost her husband, Alan, in 2021 unexpectedly, and Christmas was his favorite holiday.
Plenty of favorite characters were on hand mingling with the crowd and taking pictures — Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, the Chick-fil-A cow and the YMCA frog and there was a line wrapped around the building to board the Triad Express, and there was snow! Lots of the white stuff fell throughout the evening to make the occasion even more festive.
Of course, there was a long line of children to check in with Santa to find out if they were on the naughty list of the nice list, and wish lists were also exchanged with Saint Nick to curry favor.
It was a great celebration to kick off the holiday season.
