The recent cold snap and temperamental weather hasn’t stopped the Titans, who have remained busy this past week. The varsity baseball team went on a kick last week, going 3-0 with wins at Mount Tabor (8-1) on March 7, against Southeast Guilford (7-5 ) at home on March 8 and a rematch against Mount Tabor at home 12-0 on March 9. They played Parkland at home on Tuesday. The varsity softball team is undefeated for the season so far, with wins this past week against Mount Tabor on the road 16-1 on March 7, Starmount on the road 15-4 on March 8 and Parkland at home 15-0 on March 9. They played Glenn on Tuesday. The girls varsity soccer team suffered a loss to Page on the road 2-0 on March 6, but bounced back to take the win over Hickory at home 7-0 on March 7. They played at Mount Tabor Wednesday night. The boys varsity lacrosse team beat Glenn on the road 11-1 on March 7, but fell to Reagan at home 15-9 on March 9. They played Davie on Tuesday. The girls varsity lacrosse team remains undefeated for the season thus far, with wins this past week over Glenn on the road 20-3 on March 7, Hough on the road 10-7 on March 8 and Reagan at home 18-7 on March 9. They also played Davie at home on Tuesday.
The ACT was administered on March 7 to all juniors and West hosted a SAT testing day that juniors could sign up for on March 11. With many state colleges continuing to be test optional for admissions through next year, there has been less stress on the importance of these exams, allowing many students to not worry as much about the tests. Scores for both exams should be available in the coming months.
Students have another early release day this coming week, with school being let out at 1:40 p.m. on March 15. This is the second of three early release days for the WS/FCS this semester, the last one being on Feb. 8 and the final one coming on April 26. This comes only a couple weeks after the lengthened spring break, with March 30 and April 10 both being given off as extra days on the front and back end of the week off.
Have a great week, Titans.
