CLEMMONS — Two area students received huge boosts to their college funds after being recognized by a local social services organization.
The Clemmons Civic Club recently announced that Aaralyn Russell and Abby Smith, both of West Forsyth High School, would be the recipients of the organization’s annual scholarships.
The students were selected based on their volunteer work in the Clemmons community, and each will receive $2,000 towards their first year of college.
Russell was reportedly active in numerous clubs and sports during her tenure as a Titan. She indicated plans to attend N.C. State University and pursue a major in biomedical engineering.
For her part, Smith volunteered with various school organizations and was active in her church’s community outreach. Next year, Smith will also be attending N.C. State University. She plans to major in biological engineering.
