CHARLOTTE — An Atrium Health partnership with the U.S. Army will enhance the health system’s pool of candidates to fill positions, while easing the transition to non-military careers. At a ceremony held on Feb. 6, Atrium Health committed to participate in the Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program, allowing active duty and retired military members a pathway to careers in health care.
“Atrium Health is excited to increase our partnership with the U.S. Army through this amazing program for newly recruited and current soldiers,” said Naomi Dolohanty, vice president of talent acquisition for the greater Charlotte market for Atrium Health. “I want to thank the Army for providing Atrium Health with this opportunity to work with it. To be able to identify those who will be preparing to leave military service to enter the public workforce will be a tremendous advantage for us. As we all know, the dedication and work ethic of military members is beyond measure.”
The PaYS program is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of corporate industries and public sector agencies. The program guarantees soldiers and ROTC cadets five job interviews and possible employment after their service in the Army.
“The partnership with Atrium Health allows a mutual relationship to advocate for the needs of health care providers within our civilian and military health systems,” said Lt. Col. Jason Kim, 2nd Medical Recruiting Battalion commander of the U.S. Army.
Atrium Health has earned recognition from Forbes as a “Best Employer for Veterans.”
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded Atrium Health the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the department to employers for its support of employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. Atrium Health has received numerous Patriot Awards.
That award, presented by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, recognizes individual supervisors and managers who support active duty military through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence.
In the greater Charlotte market, Atrium Health employs more than 850 former or current members of the military.
In addition to the PaYS program, Atrium Health has other recruiting efforts to bring veterans to the health system. These efforts include the GI Apprenticeship Program. In collaboration with community partners, this program also helps veterans transition to the public workforce. An additional partnership with the Circa diversity job network to distribute Atrium Health job opportunities, reaching a variety of groups including veterans, people of color and individuals with disabilities.
