CLEMMONS — A Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputy assigned as a school resource officer (SRO) located a replica firearm in a student’s backpack at West Forsyth High School.
Intelligence gathered by FCSO and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System led to the recovery of a replica firearm on the West Forsyth High School campus. The SRO located the student and secured the replica firearm without incident; all students and teachers were unharmed.
The student will be charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon on educational property (NCGS 14-269.2); as the student is a juvenile, no further identifying information will be released.
“Thanks to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System Teachers and Students for assisting in locating this replica firearm,” Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. “We take all weapons found on campus seriously and deal with them accordingly. Our job is to make sure all of our teachers and students are working and learning in a safe and healthy environment. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office takes any firearm, whether a replica, BB gun or anything harmful to the campus, as a serious nature.”
