CLEMMONS — On May 4, four of our members and eight Key Club Members participated in the monthly highway cleanup program.

Our membership meeting for May 6 was not held. Club President Thao Sommerville was attending an awards ceremony where she received the Forsyth County Governor’s Volunteer Service and the President’s Lifetime Achievement Volunteer Service Award that day.

At our May 21 meeting, the speaker was Brian Moore, operations manager at the Mary Alice Warren Community Center. He has been with the town of Lewisville for more than 8 years. He spoke to the club about the history of the center. He detailed the areas of this beautiful and versatile facility and its various uses. Other items of discussion during the meeting were the establishment of an Aktion Club and possible fundraising events.

On May 24, Sommerville attended the West Forsyth High School awards ceremony. There she presented our annual scholarship recipient, Fares Atassi, with his scholarship certificate. She also presented our Key Club Director Theresa Bryant with a floral arrangement in appreciation for the job she has done working with these students.

If you would like to join us in supporting your community and its children, you are welcome to attend a meeting.

We meet on the first and third Tuesday, at 8 a.m. at Trinity Elms Apartments Community Building, located at 7543 Fair Oaks Drive (just off Harper Road) second drive to the right.

Light breakfast and coffee available. For more information email membership chair Ina Beavers at thebeav1973@outlook.com.
