Marvorene, affectionately known as “Marv,” was a bright light to all who knew her. She always greeted you with her beautiful smile and welcoming hug. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and participating in all their activities and accomplishments. She was extremely creative, outgoing  and mastered entertaining, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, designing, gardening, traveling (all 50 states and 28 countries) and always cheering for her beloved Tar Heels. A life-long, avid sports fan, coach, Pep-Club sponsor and participant, she was extremely happy during football and basketball seasons.

Marvorene attended Appalachian State University and graduated from University of Maryland for her undergraduate studies. She earned her master’s degree in education from Appalachian State University. She taught family living and consumer science for 28 years at West Forsyth High School, shaping the lives of countless students with her wisdom and care.
