Eugene Michael “Mike” Parks

Mr. Eugene Michael “Mike” Parks, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on July 27, 2024 with his beloved family by his side.

Mike was born on May 15, 1937, to Frank and Clara Parks. He graduated from Clemmons High School in 1955. The year before he graduated, he met the love of his life, Virgie Hyatt, and they were married on July 15, 1955. Mike worked at Reynolds Tobacco Company for 35 years as a mechanic.  He took great pride in his work and spent countless hours at flea markets, swap meets and auctions building his tobacco collection that he happily shared with friends, family and his community. Mike enjoyed playing golf, cheering for Duke basketball and eating breakfast at Pete’s. He also enjoyed spending his Sunday mornings at Clemmons Baptist Church. The thing he loved most was undoubtedly his family. Mike was quick to brag on his two children, his five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. Mike was preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister, Patsy Cheek; and his wife, Virgie Parks. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Keith Parks (Joni) and his daughter, Kay Jarvis; his grandsons, Brad Parks (Melinda), Chad Jarvis (Kristen), Troy Jarvis (Aleighsa Hager), Sam Jarvis (Dayna Crater) and granddaughter, Tracie Welch (Jimmie). He is also survived by three great-granddaughters: Camden and Harper Welch and Kamryn Jarvis and great-grandson, Justin Ladd, as well as several nieces and nephews and special neighbors, Jean Livengood and Ruby Watson. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Clemmons First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Wellcare Hospice, especially nurses Cassie and Melissa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemmons First Baptist Church, 3530 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012. (Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is serving the Parks family)
