For the Clemmons Courier

At our Aug. 6 meeting, Steve Danner reported on our Aug. 3 highway cleanup. We had four members participating. Treasurer Barbara Schanker gave the financial report.

Members of the 2024 Leadership Group from the Clemmons Chamber of Commerce gave their final presentation to our club. The leadership class consisted of David Hanein, Valerie Weatherman, Charles Shanlever and Wanda Carpenter. Marissa Joyce, not a member of the class, also assisted us. Their project was to mentor our club to boost membership. They have been working with us for the past few months and have given our members many good ideas. They showed us ways of enhancing our social media presence. We so appreciate the time and effort put forth to help us grow. Thanks to them we now have an active Facebook page.

Nominations were made for the 2025 slate of officers. The nominations were President Joel Schanker, Vice President Jim Brosovic, Treasurer Barbara Schanker and Secretary Michael Watson. The membership voted in favor of these officers as our next year’s leadership. The will be officially installed at a meeting on Sept. 29.

Discussion continued on the appreciation event for outgoing West Forsyth High School Key Club advisor Theresa Bryant. It was decided that we would combine this with the officer installation on Sept. 29. Bryant is stepping down after several successful years of leading our Key Club. She has done an amazing job and will be sorely missed. There was further discussion on forming and Aktion Club in our area. A change in our meeting time and date was discussed. The general consensus was a noon meeting time on Thursday.

Felicia Couch was another guest speaker. Couch is the founder of Master’s League Foundation for Boys. The organization at this time chooses ten young men each year from an application process. The annual course assists with such things as, time management, public speaking, financially literacy, business shadowing and exceptional life skills. They help to prepare the young men for a successful life after high school. Our club looks forward to assisting this worthy cause.
