This November, vote for Amy North

I am writing to express my support and endorsement of Amy Taylor North for N.C. House Seat 74. I support Amy’s vision for the future of North Carolinians and believe it is absolutely necessary that we unseat the divisive extremist who is currently in office. While in office, Jeff Zenger has worked tirelessly to strip municipalities of what little authority they have and will continue to do so all in the name of development.

Due to the structure of North Carolina, municipalities only have the specific authorities granted them by the state. Over the past four years, led by and with the help of Jeff Zenger, N.C. municipal authority has continued to decrease. This means that control over communities continues to be centralized to a small group of elitists, like Jeff, in Raleigh, who believe they know more about you and what you want than your neighbors and local officials.

He does not ask for, or listen to, community input on issues that will dramatically impact our residents, small businesses and forever change our community. Vote for Amy Taylor North this November.

This Republican is voting for Amy North

Why is this conservative Republican voting for the State House District 74 candidate, Amy Taylor North, putting a North sign in my yard and donating to her campaign?

In a recent 20-minute conversation with Jeff Zenger, he complained about the Clemmons council because of his views regarding land development. When he complained that Mike Combest was a liberal, I confronted his error. Still, I had to ask what led to that comment. Zenger said that Combest donated to his opponent, Amy Taylor North. That’s why. That got me interested.

So, I contacted Combest who had done his research regarding Zenger’s efforts in the N.C. House of Representatives aimed at removing localities from property development decisions and moving the authority to the state! Seriously! Who is the liberal on that issue? This satisfies his land development profession but not people who think the localities should only be able to decide their own land issues (which I think includes annexation).

Do you recall a controversy in Clemmons about a 2-acre lot, which developers wanted freed from Clemmons authority and given to the county via the state’s authority to de-annex? Zenger played a serious role in this decision. The Clemmons council and owners of that property opposed this. I wrote to the Courier with quotes from legislators, at the time. Combest drove to Raleigh to oppose Zenger and the people who attempted to sneak the de-annexation into a bill.

I will vote for Amy Taylor North for House District 74. I gave a donation to North’s campaign and placed an Amy Taylor North sign in my yard. I look forward to being accused, too.
