Local representatives secure votes in Tuesday election

Several races impacting the Lewisville and Clemmons area were decided on Tuesday. 

In the NC Senate Race for District 31, Republican Dana Caudill Jones captured 77,892 votes representing a commanding 62.55 percent of the electorate. Jones’ challenger, Ronda Mays received 46,440 votes or 37.29 percent of the electorate.

In the NC Senate Race for District 32, Democrat Paul Lowe secured nearly 69 percent of the total electorate with 65,772 votes tallied. Lowe’s challenger Republican George K. Ware only received 27,072 votes or 28.34 percent of the electorate. 

In the House of Representatives District 74 race, Republican incumbent Jeff Zenger narrowly staved off a challenge from Democrat Amy Taylor North. Zenger finished the night with 26,695 votes (51.92 percent) compared to North’s 24,719 (48.08 percent).

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners had three seats up for grabs that were all captured by Republicans. Richard V. Linville was the top vote getter, followed by Gloria D. Whisenhunt and Gray Wilson, with 66,836, 63,335 and 62,483 votes respectively.

Curtis Fentress was the top-performing Democrat, finishing with 59,883 votes. Fentress was followed by Valerie Brockenbrough, who secured 59,165 votes and Marsie West who received 56,385 votes.
