Nine West Forsyth athletes sign NLI to play in college

West Forsyth held its National Letter of Intent Signing Day for fall on Friday. 

According to a release sent by Athletic Director Mike Pennington, eight athletes confirmed where they will be playing their respective sports in college next year. 

Aislynn Maguire, who plays girls soccer for Coach Jeffrey Williams, signed to play at Wake Forest. Maguire finished last season, according to MaxPreps.com, with 32 goals and nine assists. She helped the Titans to a record of 17-4-1 overall, including 13-1 in the Central Piedmont 4-A. Maguire is the daughter of Drew Maguire and Ashlei Stell. 

West Forsyth softball, coached by Kevin Baity, had three players sign – Sydney Horton, Madisen Barringer, and Timia Sales. 

Horton, a shortstop with the Titans, signed with North Carolina. According to MaxPreps.com, Horton finished batting .595 with 47 hits, 52 runs and 42 RBIS. She also had six doubles, five triples and six home runs. Defensively, she had a .958 fielding percentage with 21 putouts and 25 assists  

Horton is the daughter of Darian and Kelly Horton.  

Barringer, who played mostly right field this past spring, signed to play at Louisburg College. According to MaxPreps.com, Barringer batted .513 with 40 hits, 13 runs and 26 RBIs. She also had eight doubles, six triples and three home runs. Defensively, Barringer had 15 putouts. 

Barringer is the daughter of Jermell and Erika Barringer. 

Sales, a second baseman, according to MaxPreps.com, also signed at Louisburg and will play alongside Barringer. According to MaxPreps.com, finished last season batting .444 with 28 hits, 29 runs and 27 RBIs. She had five doubles and two triples, and she had eight stolen bases and nine attempts. Defensively, Sales had a .909 fielding percentage with 37 putouts and 43 assists. 

Sales is the daughter of Tim and Sabrina Sales. 

West Forsyth baseball, coached by Kevin McIntosh, had two players sign on Friday – Luis Acevedo Jr. and Jonathan Howard. They helped the team finish 23-7 overall last spring with an 11-3 record in the Central Piedmont 4-A. 

Acevedo, an infielder and pitcher with the Titans, signed with N.C. A&T. Acevedo is the son of Luis Sr. and Angelina Acevedo. 

Kaylee Styers, a girls lacrosse player with the Titans for Coach Doug Brawley, signed to play at Ferrum College. Styers is the daughter of Gary and Kym Styers. 

Howard, an outfielder with the Titans, signed with Montreat College. Howard is the son of Tim and Suzanne Howard. 

Hailey Huff, a girls beach volleyball player for Coach Lauren Gillon, signed to play at Coastal Carolina. Huff is the daughter of Jaime and Sherri Huff. 

Zoey Krause a field-hockey player at West Forsyth for Coach Ann Marie Westmoreland, signed to play at Coker University. Krause is the daughter of Jessica Krause.
