BERMUDA RUN — Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center has recently received an A grade from The Leapfrog Group.

This is the seventh consecutive A hospital safety grade for Davie Medical Center, which gives the hospital Straight A status. This designation is given to hospitals that have earned an A in at least five consecutive cycles.

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice a year.

“We are honored to once again receive this recognition which shows our ongoing commitment to keeping our patients safe,” said Cathleen Wheatley, president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center. “Every day, our entire team at Davie Medical Center is dedicated to providing the safest and highest quality care for our patients and their families and we are so proud of them for this accomplishment.”

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is part of Advocate Health, the nation’s third-largest nonprofit hospital system. The Leapfrog Group awarded 19 Advocate Health hospitals an A rating in its fall 2024 patient safety report card – the most A’s ever received by the health system’s network.

“It’s an honor to see our hospitals recognized for their unwavering dedication to patient safety and quality care,” said Dr. Scott Rissmiller, executive vice president and chief physician executive for Advocate Health. “These grades are a testament to the relentless efforts of our health care professionals and the innovative strategies we employ to continually enhance the health and well-being of our communities. We are building on our shared legacy of excellence, growing impact and bringing the best together.”

Leapfrog analysts use publicly available data to look at 22 different safety measures and assign grades based on how well hospitals are doing to protect patients from harm. Measurements include the hospital’s ability to prevent errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
