Orgain named Clemmons Rotary Student of the Month

CLEMMONS — Stefan Orgain was named the West Forsyth High School Clemmons Rotary Student of the Month for December.

He was recognized by the Rotary Club of Clemmons on Dec. 18.

In nominating Orgain for Student of the Month, West Forsyth High School, his German teacher at West, who taught him for four years, and described him as a well-behaved student of good character with excellent academic aptitude.

“He is smart and helpful,” the teacher said. “He is the teacher’s ‘meter’ to indicate whether the material has been covered thoroughly and effectively. He has been a joy to teach.”

Orgain has a weighted GPA of 4.4 and ranks 22nd in a class of 491. He is in the National Honor Society and was a junior marshal.

Orgain played soccer from freshman to junior year and has been a member of the varsity tennis team since 10th grade. As a member of the National Honor Society, he participated in all society activities and assisted with induction ceremonies for new members.

Outside of school, Orgain is co-director and co-founder of the Cientifico Atlético Camp, receiving two grants from the Winston-Salem Foundation. He crafted hands-on science curriculum and recruited volunteers to facilitate activities and formed a safe learning environment that allowed for the education and building of relationships to underprivileged students.

In addition, Orgain is a member of the Civil Air Patrol and advanced to cadet commander with 30 cadets under his command.

After graduation he plans to attend a four-year college or university and pursue either mathematics; statistics; data analytics; sports medicine or sports statistics. He would like to attend UNC, if accepted.

The Rotary Club of Clemmons congratulates Orgain for his accomplishments and contributions to his school and community.
