On Oct. 24, 2024, I wrote a letter to the Clemmons Courier endorsing Amy Taylor North for election to the N.C. House of Representatives. That letter includes the statement that: “Unlike her opponent, Amy North has not extorted $2 million from constituents with the threat of lawsuits because a zoning decision didn’t go the desired way.”
My letter uses the word “extorted” in this endorsement in its everyday meaning, rather than in its legal meaning of committing the crime of extortion. I did not state and do not have reason to believe that Mr. Zenger has committed any crime.
