With Thanksgiving here in the era of COVID-19, families aren’t really sure how to handle their festivities this year. With a record amount of people testing positive for coronavirus, it is important to be cautious this Thanksgiving to avoid further spread of the already widespread virus. Here are what some West students and their families are doing.

“I do two different Thanksgiving dinners and both of these are going to be outside this year with masks on except for when we are eating. We aren’t really gathering before or after we are just eating which is sad but worth it to keep my family safe,” senior Caroline Adams said.

Many families will be opting to have their family meals outside, which is actually an idea that may stick for years to come, given the weather.

“My family has decided to eat only with my immediate family this year in order to keep everyone safe, I wish we could see more of my extended family this year but we understand that it isn’t the right time to do that,” senior Riley Penry said.

It seems that most families at West are making changes to their plans in order to steer clear of avoidable risks during this pandemic, as should you. Everybody have a happy, safe Thanksgiving.
