Chester Ray Hall Sr.

Mr. Chester Ray Hall Sr., 75, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020. He was born in Ashe County on Aug. 1, 1945. Hall grew up in Ashe County and had a love of hunting and fishing. He retired from the city of Winston-Salem and was a member of Friends Baptist Church. Hall loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his “prized possessions.” He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Parris Hall; and his father, Robert Hall. Surviving are his mother, Bessie Fearington Hall; daughter, Penny Pegram (Ted); son, Chester Ray Hall Jr. (Stephanie); four grandchildren, Curtis Hodges Jr., Brandy Rhodes (Brandon), Cody Hall (Kayla), and Savannah Sperlazza (Scott); four great-grandchildren, Rylee Rhodes, Reese Rhodes, Larson Sperlazza, and Brody Sperlazza; six siblings, Lenore Darnell (Jay), John Hall, Lou Eva Belcher, Wanda Miller, Bill Hall (Karen), and Loretta Johnson (Randy); numerous nieces and nephews, that include his best friend and hunting partner, Jeff Darnell; and a special friend, Hannah Craig. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at Roans Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Jefferson with Pastor Darren Osborne officiating. Shane Grayson Plowman

Mr. Shane Grayson Plowman, 30, passed away on Dec. 18, 2020, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Forsyth County on Oct. 28, 1990, to Kenneth Alan Snyder and Robin Denise Plowman. His main love in life was his family. He spent his life loving and taking care of everyone. During his hospital stay, no matter how much pain he was suffering, he was calling his family letting them know that if something happened to him to please take care of his mom. Plowman was loved by everyone for his kind heart, caring soul, and for his time to help anyone.  Plowman’s happy place was at father’s, sitting on the back porch talking to everybody. He loved learning about the old times, and he got a lot of tall tales from his father and his uncle Jack, “the colonel.” Plowman loved music and playing his guitar. His love of playing the guitar started at an early age, one that he shared with a special cousin, Chris Butner. His quiet time was sitting by a bonfire with his best buddies, Zach Riddings, Tommy Griffin, Casey Reinhart, Josh Myers, Jordan Douglas and Joshua Massey.And when it came time to go home, it was to an extended family of neighbors. These special people were Eliza and Aldene Myers, Paul and Shirley, Willie, Gale and Mike, Larry and Tam, Ed and Alice. Preceding him in death was his father, Kenneth Alan Snyder; maternal grandmother, Doris Phillips “Nana” Plowman Garnett; paternal grandfather, George C. Snyder; uncle, Mark Plowman and his four-legged friend, “Baby Girl.” Surviving are his mother, Robin Denise Plowman; maternal grandfather, James H. Plowman Sr.; paternal grandmother, Martha Cude Snyder; aunts, Daphne Brown (David), Donna Hart, and Debbie Lutz (Mike); uncle, James Plowman, Jr. (Wendy); also surviving are several cousins, Tyler Hart, Molly Wood (Ronnie), Zach Plowman (Rhea), Jake Plowman (Brittany), Mattie Plowman, Julie Conner, and Jason Lutz; A good day to Plowman was hanging out with his father and his dog, “Baby Girl.” A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice in honor of Plowman.  Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel is serving the family.

Deborah ‘Debbie’ McGalliard Richardson

Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” McGalliard Richardson, 62, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at her home. She was born in Gaston County on Oct. 7, 1958. Richardson was a teacher assistant at Southfork Elementary for several years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Richardson adored her grandkids, as she was known as “Richie.” Preceding her in death was her father, Earl McGalliard, Jr.  Surviving is her husband of 41 years, Mark Richardson; son, Andrew Richardson (Christin); daughter, Ashleigh Richardson (fiancé, Michael Sperlazza); three grandchildren, Riley, Brantley, and Charleigh Anne; mother, Liz McGalliard; sister, Linda Davis (Robert); also surviving is a niece, Amy Cooper and a great-niece, Abbey Cooper. A private graveside service was held at Forsyth Memorial Park. Due to public restrictions, there was no formal visitation, but friends could sign the register from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richardson’s honor to the Derrick L. Davis Regional Cancer Center, 1010 Bethesda Court, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Kimella Cope Thompson

Ms. Kimella Cope Thompson, 52, of Advance passed away Dec. 21, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Thompson was born Aug. 26, 1968, in Davie County to Roger B. and Wanda Carter Cope. She was a Christian and loving mother and grandmother, enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. She is survived by her parents and her daughters, Melissa Casstevens (Jason) of Jonesville, and Megan Hanks of Mocksville; one son, Michael Hanks of Advance; two grandchildren, Bryson Hanks and Zayne Catstevens; and one brother, Darrell Cope of Advance.
