Margaret ‘Margo’ Ehlers

Margaret “Margo” Ehlers, 73, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021. She was born on April 27, 1947, in Jersey City, N.J., to William Joseph Murphy of Pennsylvania and Julia T. Murphy of N.J. Above and beyond everything, she deeply loved her husband and her family. They were the source of her joy, happiness and pride. Volunteering was always an important part of her community involvement. Ehlers taught typing at a therapeutic half-way program at Wayne Hospital in N.J.; design review committee at Countryside, Virginia; and pet therapy at Shattalon Nursing Home, KBR Hospice Home, and Cancer Services in Winston-Salem. She founded the Crafton Creek Woman’s Club in Lewisville. Ehlers graduated from St. Edmunds Preparatory High School. Over her lifetime, she worked as a beautician in N.Y.; Bankers Trust; N.Y. Telephone in Manhattan; C&P Telephone in Baltimore, Maryland; and Sterling Psychiatric Group in Sterling, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William J. Murphy Jr. Surviving are her husband, Thomas L. Ehlers Jr.; son, Thomas L. Ehlers III; daughter, Kelly Ehlers Suggs (C. Jared Suggs); grandchildren, Kaitlin Ehlers-Volpe and Camden Suggs; sister, Janet Flaherty; sister-in-law, Patricia Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. Ehlers will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. A private celebration of life will be held at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Frances Adelaide Perryman Shuler

Mrs. Frances Adelaide Perryman Shuler, 101, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021, at her home. She was born June 8, 1919, in Forsyth County to the late Charlie Cicero Perryman and Callie Lineback Perryman. Shuler was the oldest living member of Fork Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school class and sang in the church choir for more than 60 years and sang in a quartet for several years. She loved all children and had her own child daycare at her home for more than 40 years. Shuler always had a smile on her face and was well-known to be a great cook and famous for her homemade yeast rolls, potato salad, persimmon pudding and Moravian sugar cake. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Dwight Shuler; brother, Ray C. Perryman; and son-in-law, Billy Joe Brown. Surviving are daughters Jo Ann Shuler of the home and Judy Brown of Mocksville; granddaughter, Tammy Renegar (Luther) of Mocksville; and great-grandson, Ethan Renegar. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2021, at Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. There was a private family visitation on Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. ‘Jackie’ Stinson

“Jackie” Stinson joined her Lord and savior “while the dew was still on the roses,” on Friday, March 19, 2021. She was born on April 15, 1928, in Reynolds, Georgia, to Eunice Ruth Windham Crooke and Chester Benjamin Crooke. On Jan. 1, 1949, she married Hollis D. Stinson Sr. and they had 60 years minus one week together as life partners. Stinson always wanted her own career and found it at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph. She was a member of the “Telephone Pioneers” and past-president of their Salem Chapter. Hollis joined her in this as in everything they did and enjoyed service projects making heart pillows for patients at N.C. Baptist Hospital, clowns for Brenner Children’s Hospital, and teddy bears given to comfort children. Stinson also loved her church friends and family at Robinhood Road Baptist Church. Here, she served on many committees and enjoyed adventures with the “Primetimers.” She leaves behind happy memories for her daughter, Gwyn Stewart; son, Hollis D. Stinson Jr.; grandchildren, William Glen Stinson, H. Durrell Stinson III, Jason D. Stewart, Benjamin Eric Stinson, Meredith Stewart Wooten; and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Forsyth Memorial Park.
