WINSTON-SALEM — Due to decreased demand, Novant Health will close its COVID-19 screening assessment centers in both Charlotte and Winston-Salem on Friday, April 9. Community members who need a COVID-19 test can visit Novant Health primary care and pediatric clinics, as well as Novant Health GoHealth Urgent Care clinics.

“Our team members on the front lines of the screening centers showed remarkable commitment to make sure all of our communities had access to COVID-19 testing,” said John Howard, senior vice president at Novant Health, and chief operating officer, Novant Health Physician Network. “I cannot thank them enough for doing their part in the fight against COVID-19. Now, we ask our community members to join us in our efforts to get as many people vaccinated as possible.”

At the start of COVID-19 pandemic, Novant Health worked quickly to stand-up its COVID-19 response, which included:

• Opening 13 screening and respiratory assessment centers across its footprint;
• Converting clinics to respiratory assessment centers in vulnerable communities;
• Offering walk-up appointments at mobile health units in vulnerable communities;
• Partnering with Novant Health GoHealth Urgent Care clinics to ensure access to COVID-19 testing on holidays and over the weekend;
• Launching an online self-guided assessment tool to help patients determine if, and where, to seek a test;
• Establishing a 24/7 helpline designed to help community members with questions about symptoms and where to seek care.

To date, Novant Health has administered over 540,000 COVID-19 tests.
