On Sunday afternoon, the Clemmons Food Pantry celebrated their new location with a Community Open House and Ribbon Cutting. Almost ten years after first opening the Pantry doors, volunteers now serve an average of 600 families from across Forsyth County.
“The new space does give us more room to store food, but more importantly we now have a waiting area for clients. They can be seated inside instead of standing outside in a line that often wrapped around the building at our former location. We feel this offers a more comfortable, dignified experience for the families who reach out to us for assistance,” shared Scott Smith, vice president of the pantry’s Board of Directors.
In addition to the ribbon cutting, the West Forsyth High School Student Leadership Council was recognized for their outstanding work promoting the needs of the Pantry. Last winter alone, students collected over 23,000 items, which supplied the Pantry with several months worth of food to distribute.
