The State Employee’s Credit Union at 1025 S. Peace Haven Road has proven popular with customers … and thieves.
Twice it has been hit by bandits brandishing weapons. Once a pistol fired inside the building. On Thursday, May 15, a thief entered the bank, presented a note and demanded money. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department reported that at approximately 12:37 p.m., it received a report of the incident, officially labeled a strong arm robbery since there was no visible weapon.
Witnesses reported the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to a teller requesting money. A weapon was not displayed or threatened during the incident. The suspect fled the bank on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money. One report said the woman got one dollar.
The suspect is described as a black female in her 20’s, approximately 5’6’ tall, slender build, wearing a yellow jacket, a black hat and carrying a black book bag.
