The Clemmons Branch Library opened last Thursday with no fanfare and no announcements, and with the library staff still putting things in place. On Thursday, there were books waiting to be put on shelves and tables to be assembled.  Some furniture had not yet arrived and the auditorium was being used for storage. James Govern, head librarian for Clemmons, said that the library currently has 10,000 volumes.

Two major road improvements are planned for the Clemmons area according to local transportation officials, who say that U.S. Hwy. 158 will be widened to three lanes from Lewisville-Clemmons Road to Stadium Drive in the spring of next year, and that a traffic light will be installed at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 158 and Jonestown and West Clemmonsville Road.

Linda Neal of Clemmons and Donna Nodine of Lewisville were honored today as two of the top achievers in the approximately 194,000 member Mary Kay Cosmetics independent sales force during special awards ceremonies in the Dallas Convention Center. Ms. Neal and Ms. Nodine were two of the top sales directors in Mary Kay for leading their sales unit of independent beauty consultants to exceed $250,000 for Ms. Neal and $300,000 for Mrs. Nodine during the previous year.

Mr. and Mrs. Perry N. Boles of Lewisville announced the birth of a son, David Neill. David was born on July 19 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. The Boles are the parents of another son, Ronnie Lee, 10. The mother is the former Debrah Peel, daughter of Betty Peel Williams of Lewisville.

The Rev. Charles Randolph, former minister of Concord and Sharon Churches in Lewisville, officially retired from 34 years of ministry at the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. During his 34 years of service, he served 37 different churches in the Western North Carolina Conference.

Seven baby girls and four baby boys got together with their parents for a Lamaze class reunion at Hope Moravian Church pavilion. The parents took the Lamaze course, which is class for prepared childbirth with the help of a coach, under the guidance of Vicky Shipton, a registered nurse from Clemmons. Attending the reunion were Burton and Jennette Boner and Jennifer of Clemmons, Chris and Mary Council and Jenni, Sally and Bill Kendrick and Robert of Clemmons, Chuck and Becky Roediger and Laurian, David and Judy (Noll) Houghand Patrick, Sonya and Mickey Southern and Hannah, John and Kay Pridgen and David of Clemmons, Mike and Vicki Lawson and Justin of Clemmons, Mary Alice Ferguson and Caroline, Snapper and Beverly Wakefield and Brittany, and Marty and Vickie Haga and Jessica.
