The 60th year reunion for the Clemmons High School Class of 1956 was held last Friday at the pavilion of Clemmons Moravian Church.

There were 32 members in this last graduating class of old Clemmons High School. The consolidated Southwest High School opened in the fall of 1956, and included Clemmons, Lewisville and South Fork Schools.

Seventeen classmates attended the reunion: Barbara and Tom Mahannah, Jackie Smothers Brown, George Ed Wilson, Gerald Lee Sheets, Jack Reed, Grace Myers Bisanar, Parke Davis, Jim Higgins, Bill Harless, Carolyn Bodsford Joyner, Jeanette Lineback, Sam Marshall, Diane Bingham McGee, Ken Harpe, Ann Phelps White, Ann Ellis Sheek. Other former members of the class attending were Barbara Smith, Ralph Griffith and Bill Stevens.

Special guest and principal of the class was W. Frank Morgan attended.

Traveling the longest distance to attend this reunion was Gerald Sheets (458 miles from Louisville, Ky.) Jim Higgins, class president, traveled 450 miles from Fernandina Beach, Flas. Classmate, Sam Marshall of Charlotte, was chef for the occasion. He cooked a huge meal of savory Jambalaya. The class secretary, Barbara Craver Mahannah, and George Wilson planned the reunion.

At age 18 Barbara accepted the position of class secretary, and did not realize she would be planning 60 reunions. She is already making plans for a 2017 reunion. Deceased class members were: Shirley Holton, Jim Fant, Tom McClamrock, Emily Sparks Stimson, Ruth Green Kuijpers, Rebecca Pickett Doyle, Richard Canter, Norman Foster, Bing Davis and Roger Powell.
