Work continues in the Lewisville area on phase 2 of the water valve maintenance project in Forsyth County. Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities has partnered with HydromaxUSA to evaluate the operation and condition of all 42,000 valves in the distribution system’s 2,330 miles of water mains. The project is schedule to last four years with phase 1 completed last summer in downtown Winston-Salem. Phase 2, covering the rest of Forsyth County, began in November. Fire hydrants may also be flushed as part of the project.

Water customers may notice slight fluctuations in pressure and temporary discoloration for a brief period of time. Although water may appear discolored, it remains safe for drinking, cooking and bathing. If water appears red, brown or yellow, you should refrain from washing clothes to avoid potential staining of light-colored clothing.
