During the month of February, the Village of Clemmons has sponsored a month-long campaign of Neighbors Helping Neighbors — an educational and collection campaign for the Clemmons Food Pantry. Each week included a theme focused on the needs of the Clemmons Food Pantry.
On Saturday, Feb. 26, a celebration will be held at the Clemmons Food Pantry located at 2660 Neudorf Road from 1-3 p.m. The theme of the day, “We Choo-Choo-Choose to help our community” reflects one of the main attractions — a ride on the Triad Express kid’s train. Rides will be available in exchange for donated non-perishable foods or monetary donations for the pantry.
This week is the final week for collecting donations for the campaign, but that does not mean the giving should be over. The Clemmons Food Pantry always welcomes donations. This week’s theme is “Feed a Family.”
People are encouraged to donate any spare money. Did you know that $120 can feed a family of four for one week?
For the first week of the collection campaign, the theme was “Capture My Heart,” which encouraged donations from the top-12 most wanted items from the pantry’s food list, items that the pantry is always in need of.
The second week’s theme, to coincide with the Super Bowl, was “Soup’er Bowl Food Drive,” which encouraged group donations if parties were being held.
During the third week, themed “Let’s Celebrate Our Community,” people were encouraged to donate dessert mixes, cakes, brownies, frosting, candles and sprinkles.
Everyone is invited to tour the food pantry as well as explore a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. Dash City Dogs and Mama Mia’s Italian Ice will also be available for purchase during the celebration.
