Ruby Alice Clinard

Ms. Ruby Alice Clinard passed away Saturday afternoon March 19, 2022, at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. She was born in Davidson County on Aug. 15, 1938, to the late James Gray Clinard and Mary Mariah Beckel Clinard. Clinard was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church and worked in the nursery for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and cared for many of her family members. Clinard was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Clinard and Josephine Hendrix; brothers Bud Clinard (Bernice) and John Clinard. She is survived by sister Grace Rutledge and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Jim Newsome Jr. and Rev. Dan Nelson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Pam Montague Duggan

Pamela Montague Duggan of Clemmons passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 24, 2022, at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice House.

She was born in Bethesda, Maryland on May 27, 1962, to James and June Montague, both of whom preceded her in death. After meeting her soon-to-be husband in high school, the couple graduated from Virginia Tech and were married in 1985. Duggan worked at Coca Cola Bottling in Atlanta, MedCost, Salem Chapel and most recently for Clemmons Family Law. She attended Center Grove Church in Clemmons.

Duggan is also preceded in death by her husband, Matt Duggan. They have two children, Faith Victoria Duggan and Hannah Claire Duggan, both of the home. Duggan has three brothers, Jamie Montague (Martha) of Mocksville, John Montague of Burke, Virginia, and David Montague (Julie) of Matawan, New Jersey.

Duggan’s deep love for her children, compassionate heart and beautiful spirit will be lovingly remembered. Everyone who knew her was touched by her kindness, the joy she radiated and her infectious laugh.

A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Center Grove Church, 8750 Lasater Road in Clemmons.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care Duggan received from the Trellis Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. Glenda Gail Knowles

Mrs. Glenda Gail Knowles, 62, of Lewisville passed away, Friday, March 25, 2022. She was born Feb. 28, 1960, in Forsyth County to the late Ray Junior Mayberry and Edith Marie Anders Mayberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, R.E. Mayberry, Sherman Mayberry and Ronnie Mayberry. Knowles’ favorite TV shows she greatly enjoyed were “Judge Judy” and “Dr. Phil.” Knowles lived for her grandbabies. She is survived by her husband, Bradley Scott Knowles; children, Scotty Knowles, Jennifer Knowles; grandchildren, Ryan Carter (Noah Hutchins), Brianna Carter, Zoey Carter, Zella Carter, Madi Born, Camdyn Griffin, Skyler Denny, Eli Ray Knowles, Jannah Shephard; brothers and sisters, Cindy Bailey (Ron), Shirley Joyner (Ron Bailey), Linda Alexander, Treasa Templeton (Gary), Eddie Mayberry (Mary Ann), and David Mayberry (Gracie). The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller in Lewisville. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Don Matney celebration of life

A celebration of life service for Don Matney will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Unity Moravian Church in Lewisville. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. with a service to follow at 2 p.m.

Jerry Lenior Ridings

Jerry Lenior Ridings passed away on March 25, 2022, in Lewisville. He was born on Oct. 29, 1930, in Lewisville to the late John Thomas and Mary Evelyn Moser Ridings. Ridings proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving two years in active duty and six years in the reserves. He retired from RJ Reynolds Archer after 30 years working as a machine operator. After retirement, Jerry and his wife, Mary Nell, spent their years traveling along the east coast as much as they could.

In addition to his parents, Ridings was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell James Ridings, and five siblings. He is survived by his children, Randy Ridings (Tammy), Tim Ridings (Kim), and Jerri Lynne Steelman (Don); grandchildren, Rob Ridings, Mary Ridings Guarino (Mike), and Jason Steelman; step-great grandchild, Kaylen Guarino; sisters, Ina Mae “Dolly” Lewellen and Lillian Pegram (Hubert); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the local charity of your choice.

David Scott Sylvester

David Scott Sylvester, 59, a longtime resident of Winston-Salem, passed away on March 25, 2022, of natural causes. Sylvester was born on Feb. 23, 1963, in Greensboro. In his youth, Sylvester was a stalwart on a Greensboro city championship soccer team and became an Eagle Scout. Soon after moving to Winston-Salem in the summer of 1978, he attended Christ School in Asheville, where he was a two-time all-state cross-country runner, and the cross-country MVP award bears his name to this day. A diving accident rendered him quadriplegic on Aug. 8, 1981, two weeks before going to The Citadel on a running scholarship. Sylvester’s determination, however, led him to graduate cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Andrews Presbyterian College. Three years later, Sylvester attained his master’s degree from Wake Forest University. Sylvester then went to work for Hubbard Realty in 1992, where he was treated like family. Fiercely loyal, he remained as their IT director for 30 years. Sylvester gave all who encountered him a clear vision of how to live a life of dignity, accomplishment and perseverance through the toughest of challenges. As such, he has always been described as courageous, inspiring and a survivor. Though confined to a wheelchair and with consistent physical ailments and innumerable surgeries, Sylvester remained authentically positive throughout with a quick, sometimes irreverent, wit. In his final year, God drew Scott into a personal relationship with his savior Jesus Christ, bringing about a new peace in his most trying hours. He’s now back to running relentlessly, setting personal best after personal best with a new and glorified body.  Sylvester is survived by his loving mother, Nancy Sylvester; father, Richard Sylvester Jr. (Marie); brother, Richard “Chip” Sylvester; sister, Debian (Matt Thacker); and two nieces and two nephews.
