American Legion team includes rising freshman through rising juniors; 15 are students at West Forsyth

Summertime means American Legion Baseball, and Western Forsyth Post 522 Blue has opened the season on a strong note.

The team, coached by Jon McIntosh, boasts a 6-1 record after Thursday night’s 5-3 win against Carson Jr. Legion out of Mocksville. It was the first loss of the year for Carson, which also handed Post 522 Blue its only loss of the season so far. The win also completed a perfect 3-0 record for the week.

Post 522 trailed 3-2 heading into the top of the fifth inning but pushed three runs across to take a 5-3 lead, then strong relief pitching from Garrett Secrist helped close out the win, backing a solid start by Lucas Alderman.
Hayden Magaha and William Siceloff each had two hits and Chris Cornett and Jordan Richardson each recorded an RBI.

Post 522 beat Foothills Juniors 8-3 on Tuesday night, getting a four-run fourth inning to take command.
Cameron Huie produced a solid start on the mound, going five innings and allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two. Jonathan Howard came on in relief for the final two innings and didn’t surrender any hits or runs while striking out two.
Shortstop Luis Acevedo and Parker Lowe collected three hits apiece, and Acevedo, Siceloff, Alderman and Howard had RBIs.

On Wednesday, Post 522 downed Mocksville 9-2. Magaha (five strikeouts), Ethan Chandler (four strikeouts) and Acevedo (two strikeouts) combined to toss a five-hitter while striking out 11.
Acevedo also had two RBIs in the win.

Team members are: Huie (Union Grove Christian School), Chandler (Reynolds), Graham Wagoner (Reagan), Jordan Richardson (Calvary Day), Cornett, Christian Cooper, Conner Smitherman, Corey Kellam, Even Hewett, Garrett Secrist, Magaha, J.D. Chappell, Howard, Logan Rodriguez, Alderman, Acevedo, Lowe, T.J. Fergus, and Siceloff, all of West Forsyth.

The team plays its home games at West Forsyth.
