The Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services Community Paramedics Program has won a 2022 Civic Excellence in Innovation Award from the NC Association of County Commissioners.

The Forsyth County EMS Community Paramedics program, also known as Mobile Integrated Health, addresses the needs of those who’ve become dependent on Emergency Medical Services by addressing the issues that cause them to frequently call 911. Community paramedics also divert patients from the emergency department when other services may be more appropriate to address their needs, such as behavioral health and substance use services.

“Forsyth County Emergency Services is very proud of its Mobile Integrated Healthcare division,” said Emergency Services Assistant Chief Bryan Gallimore. “These community paramedics continue to provide quality comprehensive patient care while pushing for innovation in prehospital healthcare.”

The program was among 10 winners selected for the annual Innovation Awards. The award winners receive a $1000 cash prize and will be recognized in Concord during the NCACC Annual Conference on Friday, Aug. 12.

NCACC is a non-partisan organization that serves as the official voice of all 100 counties on issues considered by the General Assembly, Congress and federal and state agencies.
