Betty D. Everett

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Clinton, Mississippi. This service is being held to honor Betty Everett, a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and friend who passed away on Friday Aug. 12, 2022, in Clemmons. Betty was born in Bay Springs, Mississippi, on Sept. 15, 1935, and was 86 years old at the time of her death. Betty was employed for 37 years as church hostess at Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William K. Everett; sisters, Jesse Ruth McDaniel and Martha Hendry; and brothers, Roy Downs and Cranford Downs. Betty is survived by her daughter, Terri Lynn Everett; son, Mike Everett (Judy); grandsons, Thomas Sandifer (Kati) and William Everett (Renee); granddaughters, Kelsey Medlin (Greg) and Leah Wilson; great-granddaughters, Emma, Katlyn, Meghan and Olivia; great-grandsons, Zach, Gage, Julian and Liam. Sherrill Lily Gambill

Ms. Sherrill Lily Gambill, 27, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022. She was born Dec. 20, 1994, in Forsyth County to Sherrill Ray Gambill and Linda Diane Bryant. She is survived by her daughter, Maryse Teasley; mother, Diane Bryant; father, Ray Gambill; sister Michelle Throne (Mat); great-grandmother, Judy Gambill; aunt, Denise Harrison; cousins, Dakota Stokes (Rickey), Ryan Harrison (Kayla) and Jesse Nester; nieces Lily Throne and Lauryn Throne; nephew, Logan Throne; and cousins Kami, Renleigh and Thor Stokes. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Janice Laverne Beauchamp Hicks

Mrs. Janice Laverne Beauchamp Hicks, 91, of Advance, passed away at her home on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022. She was born April 27, 1931, in Forsyth County to Roy Charles Beauchamp Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Rights Beauchamp. She was the last living charter member of Redland Church, IPHC. Laverne loved baking, knitting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Goodman Hicks; daughter, Tamala Gale Hicks; sisters, Elsie Whitaker and Sue Ellis; and brother, Roy Beauchamp Jr. Surviving are her children, Susan Hicks and Richard Hicks (Joy); granddaughter, Tabatha Walker (Kendall); great-granddaughter, Kai Walker; sister, Betty Grey Pardue (David); special caregiver, Mary Evans; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at Redland Church, IPHC with Pastor David Richardson, Pastor Joel K. Boyles and Pastor Jonathan Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Elizabeth Ann Hill

Elizabeth Ann Hill, 92, passed away on Aug. 14, 2022, at Clemmons Village after a year of declining health.

Elizabeth was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, to Tausius Irven Eldridge and Anna Terry Eldridge on March 11, 1930. She is preceded in death by husband Robert O. Hill Sr., and is survived by brothers Tausius “Bud” Irven Eldridge and William Terry Eldridge (John Becker). She is also survived by children Bruce Hill (Nancy), Cindy Kelly (Jim), Jane Quinn, Donna Coe (Steve), Dan Hill (Melissa) and Mindy Knight; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, where she taught Sunday school. She was passionate about sharing her love for Jesus. She loved crafting and worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Clemmons for a number of years. One of her favorite “activities” was to send cards and greetings — especially on birthdays!

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at FrankVogler & Sons in Clemmons.

Jerri Ann Daniel Smith

Mrs. Jerri Ann Daniel Smith, 66, of Clemmons passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022. Jerri was born in Fayetteville on July 11, 1956, to the late Robert Bailey Daniel and Ida Fay Hogan Daniel and spent her childhood in Chapel Hill. Jerri was an active member of Ardmore Baptist Church since 1982, where she was a long-time Sunday school teacher. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from East Carolina University and had a rewarding career as a school teacher in the WS/FC School System. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching a ballgame, especially the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Jerri’s greatest loves were her family, friends and her church.  She loved her family deeply. She was a true and loyal friend and a pillar of love, grace and support to all who knew her. Jerri was a humble servant, prayer warrior, calming presence, full of joy, thoughtful, kind and the ultimate hostess. She loved and trusted her Lord and was known to say “God’s got this” regardless of the situation. She was always a source of great advice and was quick to say, “any decision bathed in prayer is the right decision.” Jerri’s kind and giving spirit was evident to all who knew her. She kept a file of cards ready to mail out to love, encourage and comfort others. Her family finds comfort knowing that when she got to heaven the Lord greeted her by saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Jerri is survived by her husband of 42 years, Brad Smith; daughter, Courtney Smith Wilson (Chris) of Raleigh; son, Blair Smith of Winston-Salem; sisters, Bobbi Pendleton and Diana Backus, both of Chapel Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jerri will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A service to celebrate Jerri’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Talton and Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating. The family received friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Smith family.

Mary Jane Woodward

Mary Jane Woodward, 71, of Clemmons and originally from Bristol, Virginia, died at her home on Aug. 15, 2022, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Bonnie Chapman and sister, Margaret Woodrum. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mike, of the home; son, Scott Woodward of Wyoming; daughter, Dana Gianforte (Jim) of Clemmons; and grandchildren, Mason Gianforte and Kaylee Gianforte (Hunter); brothers, Ronald Chapman (Sharon) of Abingdon, Virginia, and Carl Chapman (Debbie), also of Abingdon Virginia; as well several nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon Virginia, with Rev. Paul Ketron officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. The family would like to thank Trellis Hospice of North Carolina for their kind, generous care and support.
